Faces of Fear ist eine Dark Metal Band, die 1997 in Magdeburg gegründet wurde.
Mit wechselndem Line Up wurden zwischen 1999 und 2003 ein Demo, sowie zwei Alben selbst produziert, welche sich jeweils einem Thema als Konzept widmen. Die Musik und Texte stammen größtenteils aus der Feder von Gitarrist und Sänger Majkhen XES. Die Lyrics behandeln Themen wie die romantische Beziehung zum Tod (… like a rotting Heart) oder die biblische, sowie selbst herbeigeführte Apocalypse (P.O.T.E.A.), wobei gerade die biblischen Passagen völlig neutral erzählt werden und keinerlei Position beziehen.
Ursprünglich als Black Metal Projekt gedacht, entwickelte sich der Stil der Musik schnell zu etwas Eigenem, bei dem Elemente aus sämtlichen Metal Bereichen, aber auch aus Hard Rock und anderen Musikrichtungen eingeflossen sind.
2006 kam es, nach einigen regional recht erfolgreichen Jahren, vermehrt zu organisatorischen und personellen Schwierigkeiten und somit wurde Faces of Fear erst einmal auf Eis gelegt, obwohl bereits ein weiteres Album in Planung war.
Nach einigen halbherzigen Versuchen das Projekt wiederzubeleben, wurde das dritte Album „Fateful Night“ (ein Story Album, welches eine tragische Liebesbeziehung behandelt) in Eigenproduktion aufgenommen. Die beiden Vorgänger „… like a rotting Heart“ und „P.O.T.E.A.“ wurden dabei in zeitgemäßem Sound neu eingespielt.
Im Anschluss hat sich der Kern der Band entschlossen, Faces of Fear auch als Live-Band zu reaktivieren. ARE YOU READY FOR THE NIGHT?
Faces of Fear is a dark metal band, founded 1997 in Magdeburg (Germany).
With a changing line up a demo and two albums were self-produced between 1999 and 2003, each of which is dedicated to a theme as a concept. The music and lyrics are mostly written by guitarist and singer Majkhen XES. The lyrics deal with topics such as the romantic relationship with death (… like a rotting heart) or the biblical and self-induced apocalypse (P.O.T.E.A.), whereby the biblical passages in particular are told in a completely neutral way and do not take any position.
Originally intended as a black metal project, the style of the music quickly developed into something of its own, incorporating elements from all metal genres, but also from hard rock and other music styles.
After a few years that were quite successful in the region, in 2006 there were increasing organizational and personnel difficulties and Faces of Fear was put on hold for the time being, although another album was already being planned.
After some half-hearted attempts to revive the project, the third album „Fateful Night“ (a story album dealing with a tragic love affair) was self-produced. The two predecessors „… like a rotting heart“ and „P.O.T.E.A.“ were re-recorded in a contemporary sound. Afterwards, the core of the band decided to reactivate Faces of Fear as a live band.
